How do I protect my phone or SIM?

To protect your device and SIM from unauthorised access we recommend you set up a PIN to lock your screen and to lock your SIM. This will prevent anyone accessing your device and personal data, and from using your number in the event that your phone is lost or stolen.

Set up screen lock

You can get set up instructions specific to your device in our device guides. Simply follow these steps:

  • Go to Device Guides
  • Choose your device if not already selected
  • Select ‘Basic Functions’, and ‘Security codes’
  • Select the FAQ ‘Turn use of phone lock code on or off’

Set up SIM lock PIN

You’ll be asked to enter this PIN every time your device on, or if you move the SIM to another device. Your SIM will be blocked if you enter it incorrectly three times in a row. To unlock your SIM you’ll require a PUK code. This is available in your welcome letter or email if your contract started after March 2017. If you started before this you can get your PUK by calling Vodafone.

For device specific guidance on setting up SIM lock follow these steps:

  •  Go to Device Guides
  • Choose your device if not already selected
  • Select ‘Basic Functions’, and ‘Security codes’
  • Select the FAQ ‘Change PIN’
