What might it cost if my device is lost or stolen?

If your device is lost or stolen, it’s very important that you report it as soon as you know it’s gone – the longer you wait, the more likely it will end up costing you money.

Pay monthly customers

  • If you let us know within 24 hours of your device being lost or stolen, Vodafone will cover the cost of any additional unauthorised use over £100 – you’ll only be responsible for paying up to £100 for any unauthorised use that’s not part of your allowance
  • If you let us know within 5 days of your device being lost or stolen, Vodafone will cover the cost of any additional unauthorised use over £500 – you’ll only be responsible for paying up to £500 for any unauthorised use that’s not part of your allowance
  • If you don’t let us know within 5 days of your device being lost or stolen, you’ll be liable to pay all the charges incurred

Your monthly line rental will continue even if you reported your device as lost or stolen.

If you’ve insured your Pay monthly device with Vodafone Covered and want to make a claim, call 0333 304 3346 (standard call charges apply) if you’re in the UK, or +44 7836 191 191 if you’re abroad (free from any Vodafone phone, but standard international call charges apply from other mobiles or landlines). Pay as you go customers

If you’re a Pay as you go customer, someone else may be able to use your remaining credit until we block your SIM. You won’t be liable for any charges caused by additional unauthorised use.

Business customers

If you’re a business customer, you’ll be responsible for paying for any unauthorised use until you let us know your device has been lost or stolen.

If you have Vodafone Business Standard Insurance or Vodafone Business Damage and Breakdown Insurance, and want to make a claim, call:

  • 0333 304 3346 to speak directly to our claims team (standard call charges apply); or
  • 191 free from a Vodafone mobile or 0333 304 0191 (standard call charges apply) to contact Vodafone customer services from the UK, or 
  • +44 7836 191 191 if you’re abroad (free from any Vodafone phone, but standard international call charges apply from other mobiles or landlines)
