What are data caps?

We introduced a data cap on all Pay monthly plans purchased on or after 5 May 2016 to stop you exceeding your monthly data allowance. This cap also applies when you’re roaming in any of our Roam-free and Roam-further destinations. You can turn this data cap off or on in My Vodafone – note, this cap is off by default.

If you bought your plan before 5 May 2016, your data usage won’t be capped. We’ll text you when you’re near the end of your allowance and give you the option to add extra data.

If you’re roaming outside of our Roam-free and Roam-further destinations, we’ll limit your data spending to £39.33 (€50) and inform you by text when you reach 80% and 100% of that amount.

If you’re on Pay monthly, once you reach the £39.33 data spending limit, you won’t be able to use data while roaming for the rest of the monthly billing period. If you’re on Pay as you go, the data spending limit will apply for the rest of the calendar month.

  • To opt out of the roaming data cap, text UNCAP to 40209,free of charge
  • To opt back in, text CAP to 40209,free of charge
  • You can also turn the cap on or off by logging in to My Vodafone
