What are data caps?

We introduced a data cap on all Pay monthly plans purchased on or after 5 May 2016, and all Mobile Broadband and tablet plans purchased after 28 September 2016.

Data caps are designed to help you avoid exceeding your monthly data allowance. When you switch on a data cap, you’ll be prevented from using data once you’ve reached the limit of your monthly allowance. This cap will apply on data usage in the UK and in our Roam-free and Roam-further destinations

The data cap is off by default, but you can switch it on in the My Vodafone app or by logging in to My Vodafone

For detailed instructions, see the How do I turn my data caps on and off? section.

If you’re roaming outside of our Roam-free and Roam-further destinations, we’ll limit your data spending to £39.33 (€50) a month, and inform you by text when you reach 80%, and then 100% of that amount. Once this limit is reached, you won’t be able to use more data for the rest of the billing period, or calendar month if you’re on Pay as you go.

What if I bought my plan before the mentioned dates?

Your data usage won’t be capped, but don’t worry – we’ll text you when you’re nearing the end of your allowance, and again when you’ve reached your allowance. You always have the option to add extra data, and you can monitor your usage throughout the month in the My Vodafone app or in My Vodafone. You’ll also be capped at spending £39.33 a month, when roaming outside Roam-free and Roam-further destinations.
