What are PAC, STAC and INFO codes?

Porting Authorisation Code 

A PAC is a code that lets you move from one mobile network to another – and keep your existing number. 

It should have three letters, followed by six numbers, like this – ABC123456.

You need a PAC to cancel your contract with your current mobile provider, and bring your mobile number with you to your new one. 

  • If you’re joining Vodafone: Your old provider will need to give you a PAC. We need this so we can complete your switch.
  • If you’re leaving Vodafone: We’ll give you a PAC – give this to your new provider so they can complete your switch.

Once you’ve been given a PAC, it’ll be valid for 30 days. If you run out of time, you can request a new one.

Service Termination Authorisation Code 

A STAC is a code that lets you move from one mobile network to another – and get a new number. It should contain six numbers, followed by three letters, like this – 123456ABC.

You need a STAC to cancel your contract with your current mobile provider, and get a new mobile number from your new one.

  • If you’re joining Vodafone: Your old provider will need to give you a STAC. We need this so we can complete your switch.
  • If you’re leaving Vodafone: We’ll give you a STAC – give this to your new provider so they can complete your switch.

INFO code 

An INFO code tells you if you need to pay anything to end your Pay monthly plan. For example, you might have to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF) if you’re part-way through your plan.  

You can also use an INFO code to find out how much credit you’ll lose if you end your Pay as you go plan. 

INFO codes also tell you what impact switching networks will have on any other services you’ve got with us – home broadband for example. 

To get an INFO code from us, text INFO free to 85075 - if you only have one number on your account. 

If you have more than one number on your account, check the amount in your account online by going to Account settings > Mobile switching
