How is Vodafone Broadband installed?

Installation is different depending on where you live. First check the maximum speed we can offer you

I can get speeds of up to 63Mbps  

If you need a new phone line

  • On the day, the engineer will discuss your options with you and find the best place to install the new phone socket in your home
  • The installation may take a few hours. Once completed plug in your phone and router, and follow the instructions that come with the router

If you don’t need a new phone line

  • Follow the instructions that come with the router – make sure you connect it before 8am on the day of activation
  • Leave the router turned on until the internet is connected – it should be up and running by midnight on the same day 

We’ll keep you updated by phone, text or email and will let you know if your activation date changes.

I can get speeds of up to 900Mbps  

On the day of installation, our engineers will run a small cable from your closest street cabinet directly to your home through a narrow channel.

There are two types of installation:

  • Overhead
    The fibre wire running from the exchange to your home will use a telephone pole.
  • Underground
    The fibre wire running from the exchange to your home will run from the street into your home. On occasion, we might need to create a route. We’ll always consult with you before we do this. 

Our engineers will test your service to make sure you’re up and running.

If you’re setting up Gigafast Wi-Fi without an engineer, you’ll need to follow the instructions on the side of the box your router came in.

 

COVID-19 and broadband installation

To keep both you and our engineers safe, we’re cooperating with NHS contact tracing. This means that if one of our engineers tests positive for COVID-19, we may need to pass your contact details on to the NHS contact tracing service. 

We respect your privacy and security, so we’ll only share details about you that the NHS requests. If you do not want your contact details to be passed on to the NHS, please chat to us.
