I’m having problems with my COVID-19 tracing app

Which app you’re using depends on where you are in the UK:

I’m using NHS COVID-19 app (England and Wales)  

You can download the NHS COVID-19 app using the App Store if you have an Apple device, or the Google Play Store if you have an Android.

The NHS COVID-19 app logs where you are, and who’s near you – this is all anonymous. It then notifies you if you’ve been in contact with someone who’s been diagnosed with COVID-19.

I can’t find the app:

  1. Ensure your device is running at least iOS 13.5, and Android 6
  2. Check if your device is compatible

My app isn’t opening:

  • Check if you can open other apps as normal
  • If so, try deleting the app and downloading it again
  • If you still have a problem, visit the NHS COVID-19 app website for more support

My QR code won’t scan:

The links in my app aren’t working:

  • The in-app links are free, however – you need data to view them. They won’t load if you’re out of data

I’m using Protect Scotland app (Scotland)  

You can download the Protect Scotland app using the App Store if you have an Apple device, or the Google Play Store if you have an Android.

The Protect Scotland app is a proximity app, it anonymously contacts people who have been in close proximity with someone who’s been diagnosed with COVID-19.

I’m using StopCovid NI (Northern Ireland)  

You can download the StopCOVID NI app using the App Store if you have an Apple device – or the Google Play Store if you have an Android.

The StopCovidNI app is a proximity app, it anonymously contacts people who have been in close proximity with someone who’s been diagnosed with COVID-19.
