How can I avoid running up a large bill when I’m abroad?

One of the best ways to avoid ’bill shock’ is to stop any apps using data in the background. Most phones will have an option to stop your data allowance being used abroad. This is often called 'data roaming' and our device guides will show you how to turn data roaming off and on.

You’ll normally be charged to make and receive calls when you’re abroad. Call barring lets you stop calls from certain numbers being made to or from your phone, including international calls. You can manage your call bars by logging in to My Vodafone, where you can stop or allow calls to and from your phone while you’re abroad.

Our Travelling Abroad page lists a variety of ways to keep your roaming costs down while travelling abroad. So whether you’re a Pay monthly customer, or on Pay as you go, you’ll find a way to pay less while roaming.
