Why does my new SIM say 'no service'?

Just upgraded?

When you upgrade over the phone or online, we’ll send you a new SIM with your new mobile. However, the new SIM isn’t activated, which allows you to use your old mobile until your upgrade arrives.

If your new mobile uses the same size SIM as your old mobile, just pop your old SIM in your new mobile and dispose of the new, inactive SIM. However, if you need to activate your new SIM, just follow our simple SIM swap process online.

New to Vodafone?

If you’ve just received a brand new device and agreement from Vodafone, your new SIM should work straight away. If your device is saying ‘no service,’ please get in touch

If you’ve asked to keep your number, you might see ‘no service’ as your number transfers over to us – but you should get full service back by 5pm that day. However, please be aware it can take until midnight for full service to resume.

All other customers

The first thing you should try is turning your phone off and back on again. If this doesn’t work, this link will tell you if there’s a network problem in your area. If there aren’t any network issues and the problems persist, please get in touch
