What is 4G/4G+ and how do I connect to it?

What is 4G?

4G is the fourth generation of cellular network technology. It comes as standard on Vodafone Pay monthly and Pay as you go.

Our 4G network is designed to work better indoors than ever before. So, you can stream videos or music, keep up-to-date with breaking news, and use your favourite apps – without waiting for content to load.

How do I get 4G?

Here’s all you’ll need to connect:

• A 4G-compatible device
• A 4G signal in your area

Our 4G network offers unbeatable signal coverage indoors and out. If you’re using 4G and move into an area that only has a 3G or 2G signal, your device will automatically swap to that instead. You’ll return to 4G as soon as the signal is available again.

What is 4G+?

LTE Advanced, also known as 4G+, allows for faster data speeds than standard 4G because of the network's increased capacity. Many recently manufactured smart phones support 4G+ and if your device is compatible, you won't have to take any extra steps to connect to the service.

If you're connected to the LTE advanced network, your phone will display a 4G+ icon instead of the usual 4G icon. iPhones and some other devices will continue to show the 4G icon regardless of which network you are connected to.

How do I get 4G on my Pay as you Go phone?

We also offer 4G on our Pay as you go handsets. You can find out how to set this up in our device guides
