Vodafone purchased a third of the crucial low frequency spectrum, and higher-frequency spectrum, in Ofcom’s 4G spectrum auction. This means our network coverage goes further indoors and capacity is boosted in busy towns and cities.
The spectrum we're currently using for 4G is:
- 10MHz paired in the 800Mhz band – this is great for rural and indoor coverage
- 20MHz paired in the 2.6GHz band – this is great for coverage in cities where more capacity is required
- An additional 25Mhz (20MHz usable) of unpaired spectrum in the 2.6Ghz band – this is great for linking up our masts
- 10MHz paired in the 2.1GHz band – this is also great for capacity in cities where it’s most needed
