What does ‘average’ speed mean when describing broadband speed?

Average download speeds are the broadband speeds that at least 50% of our customers will experience, as defined by the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP).

  • 73% of customers on Superfast 1 will receive more than 35Mbps
  • 61% of customers on Superfast 2 will receive more than 63Mbps
  • 100% of customers on Gigafast 100Mbps will receive 100Mbps
  • 100% of customers on Gigafast 200Mbps will receive 200Mbps
  • 100% of customers on Gigafast 500Mbps will receive 500Mbps
  • 100% of customers on Gigafast 900Mbps will receive 900Mbps
