What does ‘average’ speed mean when describing broadband speed?

  • Our advertised 'average' speeds which are defined by the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) as the speed that at least 50% of our customer base can achieve. 73% of customers on Superfast 1 receive speeds above the average speed stated (35 Mbps) and 61% of customers on Superfast 2 receive above the average speed stated (63 Mbps).
  • Gigafast Broadband customers will achieve average speeds in line with their chosen package of 100Mbps, 200Mbps, 500Mbps or 900Mbps.
