What does ‘average’ speed mean when describing broadband speed?

These are the advertised “average” speeds which are the average sync speeds our broadband customers achieve. This is defined by the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) as the speed that at least 50% of our customer base can achieve. 73% of customers on Superfast 1 receive speeds above the average speed stated (35 Mbps) and 61% of customers on Superfast 2 receive above the average speed stated (63 Mbps).
