How accurately can the broadband speed checker predict the service I’ll actually receive?

Our broadband speed checker is connected to the OpenReach network, which identifies the speed at your nearest street cabinet and its capacity to connect further premises, which is the most accurate way to assess the maximum speed you could possibly receive at your address.

Unlike other broadband providers, we don’t slow down usage during peak times, but there are other factors that could affect the broadband speed you actually receive. Distance from the router, using a wired or wireless connection and the number of people in your home using your broadband connection at the same time will all impact the speed and service you actually experience.

If you’re having problems with your broadband speed, there are a few other checks you can make to your computer, router or Wi-Fi network
