What should I do if I can’t call or text?

If you can’t make or receive calls, or send texts, there are a few things you can try.

Restart your phone

Try turning your phone off and on again.

Try a different phone number

If you’re having trouble calling or texting a certain phone number, try a different one. If it works, there’s probably an issue with the number you tried first.

Have you paid your bill?

If you’re on a Pay monthly plan, check you’ve paid your latest bill. If you’ve missed a payment, your account might be restricted so you can’t call or text. Log in or register for My Vodafone to check your account status and latest bill

If you’re on Pay as you go, some of our older plans require you to top up your phone

Log in or register for My Vodafone to check and update your plan

Check your phone signal

Unless you have WiFi calling, you must have phone signal to call or text.

Make sure you’re connected to the Vodafone network, or you have WiFi calling on your phone

If there’s no signal, check for issues using our network status checker

Turn off roaming bars

If you’re abroad, you could have an active roaming bar on your account. If you can use local WiFi, you can check and remove bars

Unlock your phone

If you bought your phone from another provider, you might need to get your phone unlocked

Uninstall calling and text apps

If you’ve installed a third-party calling or text app like TrueCaller or Textra SMS, try uninstalling it.
