How does WiFi compatibility mode work?

If you have an Ultra Hub or Power Hub you can set up WiFi compatibility mode using the Vodafone Broadband app

You can use compatibility mode if you can’t connect to the main WiFi network. It lets you split your network into two versions and choose which one to connect to:

For Ultra Hub:
Default WiFi – supports 2.4/5GH and WPA2 security mode
Premium WiFi – supports 2.4/5/6 GHz and WPA3 security mode

For Power Hub:
Default Wi-Fi – supports 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz and WPA2+WPA3 (WPA3) security mode
Secondary Wi-Fi  – supports 2.4 GHz + 5 GHz and WPA2 security mode

Both versions will have the same password, but you can choose to change these.

How do I set up compatibility mode?

There are two ways:

  • Vodafone Broadband app  – go to WiFi and choose Compatibility mode to start using it
  • Vodafone Broadband portal – the URL and password is on the bottom of your router. Go to WiFi and choose WiFi Compatibility mode to start using it

Make sure you reconnect all your devices if you use compatibility mode. Your device will also get a new IP address.

If you stop using compatibility mode, use your old password – your devices should automatically reconnect. You can’t use compatibility mode for devices like Ring Doorbells.
