Why is my broadband speed slow and how can I improve it?

A number of factors could be impacting your broadband speed.

  1. Your environment
  • Make sure your router is plugged into the master socket, or the fibre connection box if you’re a Gigafast customer
  • Check that your router is at least a foot away from other electrical items, walls, fish tanks, radiators, wireless telephones and mirrors – all of which can impact performance
  1. Your device
  • Make sure your devices are all updated and using the latest software
  1. Your Wi-Fi channel
  • Your broadband has two frequencies, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. On the 2.4Ghz bandwidth there are 13 channels which overlap and can be slower if there are too many connections on the same channel
  • Find out how to adjust channels
  1. Your available bandwidth
  • Switch off any devices which aren’t in use to free up bandwidth – you can check your in-use devices on the Vodafone Broadband app
